Ayesha Takia's Biography


Ayesha Takia-Azmi (born on 10 April 1986) is an Indian actress who mainly appears in Bollywood films. She made her film debut in Taarzan: The Wonder Car for which she won the Filmfare Best Debut Award in 2004. Her most recent commercial successful was the 2009 film Wanted (2009).[1]

Early life and background


Takia was born in Mumbai to a Gujarati father and an Anglo-Indian mother. Her mother is half British and half Maharashtrian. She has a younger sister named Natasha who is three years younger than her.Takia attended St. Anthony’s High School, but never went to college because she started to work when she turned sixteen.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's Biography


Aishwarya Rai (Tulu pronunciation [əjɕʋərjaː rəj]; born 1 November 1973), also known as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, is an Indian film actress and model. She was the first runner-up of the Miss India pageant, and the winner of the Miss World pageant of 1994. She is a leading contemporary actress of Indian cinema and has received two Filmfare Awards, two Screen Awards, and two IIFA Awards for her performances in Hindi language films of Bollywood. Rai is regarded as one of the most popular and influential celebrities in India, and is often cited in the media as the "most beautiful woman in the world".[3][4][5][6][7][8]
Rai made her acting debut in the 1997 biographical film Iruvar and starred in the commercially successful 1998 film Jeans. She earned wide public recognition and Best Actress awards at Filmfare for her leading roles in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 1999 melodrama Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and the 2002 period film Devdas. She gained critical appreciation for her portrayal of Tagore's heroine Binodini in Rituparno Ghosh's 2003 film Chokher Bali, and a depressed woman in Ghosh's 2004 relationship drama Raincoat. Following a series of commercially unsuccessful films, Rai featured in the 2006 blockbuster adventure film Dhoom 2, the 2008 historical romance Jodhaa Akbar, and the 2010 science fiction film Enthiran. She garnered wide critical acclaim for her work in Bhansali's 2010 romantic drama Guzaarish.
Following a tumultuous relationship with actor Salman Khan, Rai married actor Abhishek Bachchan in 2007. Her off-screen roles include duties as a brand ambassador for several charity organisations and campaigns; she is a Goodwill Ambassador for the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). She was awarded with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2009, and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France in 2012.

Early life and background


Rai was born into an ethnic Bunt[9] family in Mangalore, Karnataka.[10] Her father, Krishnaraj, was a marine biologist, while her mother, Brindya, is a housewife.[1] She has one elder brother, Aditya Rai, who is an engineer in the merchant navy. He co-produced one of her movies, Dil Ka Rishta (2003).[11] Rai's values and lifestyle were influenced by her family, and even as her fame continues to rise, she holds strong to a religious, value-based life, influenced early on by her parents.[12]
The family moved to Mumbai, where Rai attended the Arya Vidya Mandir High School.[1] Rai did her intermediate schooling at Jai Hind College for a year,[13] and then joined DG Ruparel College[14] in Matunga, securing 90 percent in the HSC exams.[1][15] She trained in classical dance and music for five years during her teens.[15] Her favourite subject was zoology, so she initially considered a career in medicine but was unsuccessful later on.[15] Then with plans to become an architect, she enrolled at Raheja College, but later gave up her education to pursue a career in modelling.[13] In 1991, Rai won a supermodel contest (organised by Ford) and was eventually featured in the American edition of Vogue.[14][16] After abandoning an idea to pursue a career in medicine, Rai enrolled for a course in architecture at the Raheja College of Arts.[15] However, she dropped out of college to pursue a full-time career as a model.[13]
In 1993, Rai gained public recognition for her appearance in a Pepsi commercial with actor Aamir Khan.[16][17] In the 1994 Miss India she won second place, behind Sushmita Sen, and was crowned Miss India World.[18] With Sen representing India at the Miss Universe pageant, Aishwarya's duties as the first alternate included representing India in the rival Miss World Pageant, held that year in Sun City, South Africa. She went on to win the Miss World[19] title the same year, where she also won the "Miss Photogenic" award and Miss World Continental Queen of Beauty − Asia & Oceania.[20] After winning the pageant, Rai spoke of her dream for peace for this world, and her desire to be an ambassador of peace during her one-year reign in London.[18][21] In 2000, she was named the "Most Beautiful Miss. World" of all time.[12] Rai continued to pursue a career as a model until she became an actress.[22]

Anushka Sharma's Biography



Anushka Sharma (pronounced [əˈnʊʂkaː ˈʃərmaː]; born 1 May 1988)[1] is an Indian actress and former model who appears in Hindi films. In 2008, she was signed by Aditya Chopra for a three-film contract with Yash Raj Films and made her acting debut in Chopra's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. She received critical appreciation for portraying a vivacious wedding planner in the romantic comedy Band Baaja Baaraat (2010).[2] Both films fetched her a Best Actress nomination at the Filmfare Awards ceremony.[3] She later won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Yash Chopra's romance Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012).

Sharma's father, Col. Ajay Kumar Sharma, is an army officer and her mother Ashima Sharma is a housewife. Her father is from Uttar Pradesh and mother from Garhwal division of Uttarakhand.[4] She has an elder brother named Karnesh,[5] who is in the Merchant Navy. She studied in Army School and graduated with specialization in arts from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore.[6] She later moved to Mumbai to further pursue her modelling career, where she currently resides.

Kareena Kapoor (pronounced [kəˈriːnaː kəˈpuːr]; born 21 September 1980), also known as Kareena Kapoor Khan, is an Indian actress who appears in Bollywood films. She is the daughter of actors Randhir Kapoor and Babita, and the younger sister of actress Karisma Kapoor. Noted for playing a variety of characters in a range of film genres—from contemporary romantic dramas to comedies—Kapoor has received six Filmfare Awards, and has established herself as a leading actress of Hindi cinema.[1][2]
After making her acting debut in the 2000 war drama Refugee, Kapoor's early years in the film industry were successful; she received a Filmfare nomination for Asoka (2001) and appeared in the melodrama Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... the same year, one of her biggest commercial successes to date. This was followed by a series of commercial failures and repetitive roles, which garnered her negative reviews. She portrayed a sex worker in Chameli (2004), the turning point in her career, and starred in the critically acclaimed films Dev (2004) and Omkara (2006). Early life and background

Born into a film family in Mumbai on 21 September 1980, Kapoor (often informally referred to as 'Bebo')[4] is the younger daughter of Randhir Kapoor and Babita (née Shivdasani);[5] her elder sister Karisma is also an actress. She is the granddaughter of actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor and niece of actor Rishi Kapoor. According to Kapoor, the name "Kareena" was derived from the book Anna Karenina, which her mother read while she was pregnant with her.[6] She is of Punjabi descent on her father's side,[7] and Sindhi on her mother's side.[8]
Describing herself as a "very naughty [and] spoilt child", Kapoor's exposure to films from a young age kindled her interest in acting;[3] she was particularly inspired by the work of actors Nargis and Meena Kumari.[9] Despite her family background, her father disapproved of women entering films because he believed it conflicted with the traditional maternal duties and responsibility of women in the family.[10] This led to a conflict between her parents, and they separated.[11] She was then raised by her mother, who worked several jobs to support her daughters until Karisma debuted as an actress in 1991.[12] After living separately for several years, her parents reconciled in October 2007.[11] Kapoor remarked "My father is also an important factor in my life [...] [Al]though we did not see him often in our initial years, we are a family now."[12]
Kapoor attended Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai, followed by Welham Girls' School in Dehradun.[9] She attended the institution primarily to satisfy her mother, though later admitted to liking the experience.[3] According to Kapoor, she was a good student and received first-class honours in all subjects except mathematics.[3] After graduating from Welham she studied commerce for two years at Mithibai College in Vile Parle (Mumbai).[9] Kapoor then registered for a three-month summer course in microcomputers at Harvard University in the United States.[9] She later developed an interest in law, and enrolled at the Government Law College, Mumbai; during this period, she developed a long-lasting passion for reading.[9] However, after completing her first year, Kapoor decided to pursue her interest to become an actress.[13] She began training at an acting institute in Mumbai mentored by Kishore Namit Kapoor, a member of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).[14]

Katrina Kaif's Biography


Katrina Kaif (born Katrina Turquotte[2]) is a British Indian actress and former model who appears in Indian films, mainly in the Hindi film industry.[3] She has also appeared in Telugu and Malayalam films. Being a British citizen, she works in India on an employment visa.[1]
Kaif made her acting debut in 2003 with Kaizad Gustad's box office bomb Boom. The following year, she starred in the Telugu romantic comedy Malliswari. In 2007, she earned commercial success with Vipul Shah's Namastey London and later earned recognition for playing glamorous roles in male-centric films such as Partner (2007), Race (2007) and Singh Is Kinng (2008); all of which were box office successes. Kaif subsequently played more prominent roles in films like New York (2009), Rajneeti (2010), Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), and Ek Tha Tiger (2012, the second highest-grossing Bollywood film).[4][5] Despite earning mixed reviews from critics for her acting prowess, she has established herself as a commercially successful actress of Hindi cinema.[6]

Background

Kaif was born in Hong Kong,[7] to an Indian Kashmiri father,[8][9][10][11] Mohammed Kaif,[12][13][14][15] and an English mother, Susanna Turcotte,[13][16] who is a British citizen. Her parents divorced when she was very young. Kaif once stated, "My dad, unfortunately, and not out of choice, has had no influence on our upbringing, on our religious or social or moral bearings."[17] When she came to India, she changed her surname to that of her father's, Kaif, because it was Indian in origin.[9][18][19] Furthermore, Ayesha Shroff has maintained that the actress' original name is Katrina Turquotte. She also claims that they gave her the Indian father and also the surname Kaif after cricketer Mohammad Kaif as he was on top at that time. She adds that they also had thought her naming Katrina Kazi.[18][20] From Hong Kong, she and her family moved to China, then to Japan. From there she went to France when she was 8, and thereafter lived for a few months at a time in Switzerland, Poland, Germany, Belgium, and other European countries.[21] Then she moved with her family to Hawaii, and eventually to her mother's home country of England. Although it is often assumed that Kaif is from London, she lived there only for three years before finally moving to Mumbai.[21] Kaif's personal life, including her romantic relationships, has been a great subject to the media. After years of speculations Katrina Kaif admitted in an 2011 interview for a magazine that she was in a serious relationship with actor Salman Khan for several years, which ended in 2010.[22]
Though born to a Muslim father and Christian mother, Kaif's religion is unknown. However she visit various religious places mosques, temples, churches and Sufi Shrines. Kaif once stated in an online interview that she always wear a Taweez.
